Journal Writing T3 W7 : Graciousness

I think the word Graciousness means to be kind and grateful to other people and for what they have done for us. Some acts of graciousness are being kind, helpful or even caring for others. Although it might be a small gesture, you can show graciousness by stepping aside at the MRT waiting for people to alight or by saying, "thank you" to people who hold the elevator door open a little longer.

The 'Magical Dust of Kindness' project has reminded me to be grateful for what others have done for me. I like the 'Magical Dust of Kindness' project because it reminds pupils to thank and to be grateful for things that happen in life. Unfortunately, Singaporeans are not always gracious because if they need to go by someone blocking them, they would not say,"Excuse me!" Instead, they would just push by and give a snort or shoot you a withering look.
Remember to be gracious to everyone you meet!

T3 W6: Cyber Contacts

I have never revealed any personal information online because I know what to share with others and what not to. If I had a Cyber pal and they asked me for information, I would not tell them anything unless I have met them before. However, if I have not met them before, I would not tell them anything. But if they keep pestering me, I would just either give them fake information or ignore them or block them. Unfortunately, if you have by accident revealed your personal information, you should quickly get rid of it. Sometimes when Cyber pals ask you to go out with them, you shouldn't unless you have met them before and that they are your age. If they keep bugging you a lot, just tell them firmly that you are busy and do not wish to meet him or her. Protecting myself from evil intentions in cyberspace is not a problem. As long as you don't reveal any personal information about yourself, you would be considered safe. As for me, I don't have a lot of cyber contacts. Moreover, if I am on Facebook, I always put myself offline so I don't have a big problem with Cyber contacts. You should also know that if people you don't know adds you, just click the Ignore button instead of leaving them waiting for your response or answer. Well I think that's about it! See ya next time! =)

T3 W5 Cyberwellness-inappropriate content

I have never seen or came across inappropriate content except those on Facebook that says on some games, get 1000 coins free is you complete the offers. Sometimes they also have advertisments like use this cream and all of your hair on your leg will be removed with no pain. There are also other advertisments similar to that and I know that most of them are fake and will not work. Usually if I see it, I would go away from the website or 'X' it out. If I knew someone who always reads inappropriate contents I would tell them not to and advise them not to use that website if they go there often.

T3 W4 Cyber Addiction

I think that it is fine to use the computer and other internet resouces but if you use for a very long time like one hour, you will be addicted to it in no time. Most people do not realise that they are addicted to the computer until some serious signs show like avoiding to do their homework or missing out on activities and gatherings. If I had a friend who was addicted to the computer, I would advise them in a friendly manner to avoid playing games or chatting for long hours. Inviting them to play a game or sports they like could be helpful. However, if that doesn't work, I would just ask them to stay away from the computer firmly.

Journal Writing T3 W3:Effects of preventive measures on Pupils

It is such a disappointment that when I came back to Singapore the CCA were cancelled and that I could not go to the one that I wanted to. However, I do not blame the school because they implemented these preventive measures to prevent the spreading of H1N1. The teachers here take the preventive measures seriously unlike the teachers in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, where I just came from, no preventive measures are taken. If there is a breakout of swineflu, there is no way to trace the virus carrier and it will lead to a pandemic. The preventive measures taken by the school are very effective. For instance, the temperature taking at the security point and in the classroom is a good way of detecting the swine flu carriers.

I think it is worth taking all preventive measures against the epidemic.
